Boat Dock Under Construction
The boat dock construction began on July 5 and is scheduled to be completed by August 30, 2011.
The new property we purchased in 2004 containing the lagoon and the group camping area is where the boat dock will be constructed.
For us to get to the new property we have to cross the creek and that requires a bridge. Thus, the first phase of the construction is to build a bridge across the creek that is big enough and strong enough to support the crane and pile driver. This is occurring as I write this newsletter and will be completed on or before July 15.
The second phase of the construction will be to actually construct the boat dock. This should take about a month and will begin on July 15. Pile driving in the river, so as not to damage the Coho salmon, has to occur between July 15 and August 15.
Daily updates on the progress of the project will be posted on Facebook and the Albion website.

Work Bee September 18-29, 2011
Our next work bee is September 18-29, 2011. The list of projects is still being developed; however there are aspects of the boat dock that will need to be completed such as the pathway out to the dock and the electrical, water and sewer that will serve the dock.
A number of landscaping projects are in the works as well as the final up valley cleanup.
Plan to be here to help us.
We Need Your Continued Financial Help
- We need for you to pay your pledge on or before December 31, 2011.
- The money we have is just barely enough to cover our budget. A pledge or donation to help us purchase materials for the work bee would be welcomed.
- In addition, the generator is installed and running. The problem is that we need to purchase the switch, panel and wire to hook it up. The cost of connecting the generator and the money needed for the work bee is about another $25,000.
Thank you all for your generous support of Albion.

First Place Award in Rhododendron Show
Albion entered several cultivars of rhododendron in the Noyo Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society rhododendron show in Fort Bragg. We took first place for the hybrid Hafdan Lem. This was the first time the field station has entered the event.
