Friends of Albion Weekend at Albion, March 2-4
The Friends of Albion will be meeting at Albion the first weekend of March. (A mixup in communication has the Whale Watching weekend, already advertized, occurring on the weekend we had previously scheduled for the Friends of Albion.) Plan to join us March 2-4. We will tour the premises noting the progress of the project and then we will make specific plans for the spring and summer. There will also be some tasks in which you will have the opportunity to participate both on Friday, if you come early, as well as on Sunday. Call Dave or Ruth Wiebe at Albion to reserve a spot for the weekend.
Plans for the Immediate Future A small committee is being formed to work out the organizational details for this coming spring and summer. When the timeline is worked out we will post it in an upcoming newsletter so that you can come and help, working at the jobs with which you are most comfortable and at a time that works for you. In essence, our big workbees will occur during the months of June, July and August, except for the last two weeks of June and the third week of July. June 18-29 is the 40th anniversery of Art Camp. A special celebration is being planned. July 15-20 is the Digital Art Photography Class.
Participation by Donors and Volunteers To date, we have had over 100 volunteers give time to the project and over 60 individuals donate $80,000. We still have a ways to go toward our goal of $150,000 and the volunteer work necessary to complete the project.
Progress in the Lower Camp The progress in the Lower Camp is on hold because of the cold damp conditions.
If you have carpentry, painting, or plumbing skills we need you to help complete Lonicera. There are three more lofts to build and to paint as well as some residual and touch up painting that wasn't completed earlier. The finish plumbing needs to be completed after the bathroom vanities are installed. If you have any time available, particularly during the month of February, that you can volunteer we need your help! Plan to be involved by contacting Dave Wiebe at 707-937-5440 or Gibby at 707-965-2607 and we will put you on the schedule. You can also email us using the contact information below.
