Class Description

Digital Photography is a one week course that will have three tracks: Track 1 is for the beginner to digital photography. Track 2 is for the person who wants to learn how to manipulate their photos in Photoshop. Track 3 is for the person who wants to hone their skills at getting good shots through good photo composition. Come with what ever type of camera you posess, a point and shoot or a full-featured SLR. It is what is behind the view finder, not the camera its self, that makes the difference..

Track 1 will concentrate on how to interpret and use the camera menu and what all the buttons on the camera do. The student will shoot photos in an effort to learn how to use all the features on their camera. We will also learn how to get the photos from the camera to the computer and how to file the photos so that they can be easily accessed later. Learning to print your photos and show them in a slideshow on your TV will also be a part of the curriculum. Gilbert Muth will teach this track.

Track 2 is being taught by Marlow Burgess. The emphisis will be on working with your digital photos in Adobe Photoshop. We will be using Photoshop CS4, the latest version of Photoshop. From the basics, you will learn to adjust brightness, contrast, color balance, etc. as well as more creative manipulations such as how to subtitute a crow's beak for the nose of your friend.

Track 3 will feature Farrel Brizendine, who will instruct his students in the field on how to observe the surroundings for good, well-composed photos. He will help you with exposure, depth of field, lighting, etc.

The student may begin in one of the three tracks and move to one of the other tracks as need, skill level and interest dictates. The class will be repeated a second week. During the second week, particluarly in Tracks 2 and 3, upon mastering the basics, the student will be able to further hone their skills under the tuteledge of one or all of the teachers.
